Hey Gotraders,
Happy Friyay! Before we end off this week, let’s take a look at Netflix’s (NFLX) latest announcement. Netflix has signed a 5-year deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment, a subsidiary of Sony (SONY) for exclusive streaming rights to Sony films.
What does this mean? Well, this means that people will have even more reason to Netflix & Chill next year when the deal comes into effect!
As part of this deal, Netflix will have exclusive access to movies that Sony is making and licensing. The selected content will then be listed on Netflix’s platform after their theatrical and home entertainment releases. This includes films such as Morbius, Uncharted, and Bullet Train. Franchises such as Spiderman, Jumanji, and Bad Boys are also included in the deal. Netflix will also have access to other titles from Sony’s movie library.
Why is this important? Sony owns the rights to several Marvel films which Netflix does not have rights to. This partnership would help them become even more of a direct competitor to Disney+ by Disney (DIS).
P.S. Today is the last day that we will be running our Gotrade Daily Survey. Please do participate if you haven’t done so - it takes less than a minute, and we would really appreciate it!
